Description

We are looking for a traffic planner with a focus on urban planning for assignments in complex urban environments.

As an employee with us, you will work together with engaged colleagues to help develop Gothenburg into a close-knit, cohesive, and robust city. The work takes place in a unified urban development process to ensure good solutions with regard to functionality, quality, sustainability, and overall coherence.

We work on both large transformation projects where new districts take shape and smaller infill projects to better utilize the city's spaces, in the outer city as well as in the city center. In many cases, the answers are not given from the start but require a developing working method.

Responsibilities

As a traffic planner, you will work in a project-leading role with responsibility for planning and designing public spaces in the development project. The work is carried out in close collaboration with landscape architects in your own unit, internal specialists in the administration, and representatives from the city's other urban development administrations. Your tasks will include participating in early sketch work to define the assignment before ordering external consultants, contributing with subject matter expertise for public spaces and PBL assessments of project proposals in detailed planning, as well as preparing planning documentation.

Your work will also involve procuring and leading consultants tasked with developing feasible traffic and design proposals within the framework of a proposal document and, in some cases, system documentation. Responsibilities include establishing requirements during procurement and assessing the consultants' delivery and finances. As a traffic planner, you will follow up on your projects regarding time, cost, and quality.

The role also includes a responsible and seamless handover of the project to the next phase, which is to design, procure, and implement the expansion of public spaces.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree or civil engineering degree in the field of community building or education and experience deemed equivalent. It is important that you can see the whole picture and have Gothenburg City's mission in focus. Your drive is to participate in processes that lead to a well-designed living environment for the city's users.

The position requires experience in traffic planning and design in complex urban environments. Understanding the city's urban development process and the city's technical handbook is advantageous. You have experience with traffic issues with the ability to see the robust and sustainable whole as well as solutions at a detailed level. You have at least a couple of years of experience working with traffic planning, traffic safety, accessibility, and/or mobility for all modes of transport. You possess knowledge of detailed and comprehensive plans as well as knowledge of PBL (Planning and Building Act) and BBR (National Board of Housing, Building and Planning regulations).

We work project-based and across administrative boundaries, which requires you to be attentive and have an easy time collaborating, as well as being creative and solution-oriented. You thrive in a leading role where you can drive projects forward together with others and have the ability to balance different demands against each other and make decisions even if not all aspects are fully met. You are accustomed to managing multiple assignments and projects simultaneously and have the ability to plan and prioritize your tasks both in the short and long term.

The work requires that you have good communication skills and master the Swedish language in both speech and writing. You need to be responsible, self-driven, and structured to succeed in this role.
